The theme in celebration of Latino Heritage Month this week is Art and Storytelling.

We have lots of exciting events coming up this month, so listen up!
Cheer Tryouts are coming up! An informational meeting will be taking place tomorrow Thursday October 8th at 4:30 in the Auditorium. All are welcome to join and no experience is required. The official try out date is Tuesday October 13th from 4:30-6:30. We highly recommend attending the informational meeting tomorrow if you are interested in trying out.
Next Wednesday, October 14th is our annual Queens Tech College Fair. All grades are welcomed. This will be a great opportunity to learn about colleges and the programs available at their school. It’s never too early to start researching the school you’d like to attend after graduating.
In continuation of celebrating Latino Heritage Month, on Thursday October 15 during 7th period, we have a guest speaker presentation by the first Latina owned Manga bookstore in the United States. If you’re interested in attending, please see Mr. Aquino in room 301 for an invitation. Only 30 spots are available so please see Mr. Aquino as soon as possible.
Queens Tigers will be making our return at the annual Breast Cancer walk. The walk is taking place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Sunday, October 18th. Pick up permission slips in room 143 and register yourself as a participant on their website. Our team name is under Queens Tigers! Let’s walk together to fight against Breast Cancer!
Lastly, Halloween Extravaganza is coming back on Thursday, October 29th from 4:10-6:30. Teachers and students, if you are interested in hosting a classroom, please contact Ms. Isaza. As for the attendees, permission slips are available in room 143, and tickets will be $2. Students without a ticket will be turned away at the door, so please get your permission slips and turn them in!
